2021 Cattle Drive

Relive the old west on horseback! Authentic chuck wagon food, sleep under the stars, and experience history!

Payment: 50% down payment required to secure your spot. The remaining is due upon arrival.

Guest drovers are limited to 15 spots and must be at least 21 years of age to participate.

No limit on day riders. Let us know your preferred day(s). Children under 18 years of age will need an accompanying adult. Due to capacity limites, no meals are included for day riders. We will caddy you to your trailers at day end.

Guest Drovers are part of the drive and will have the full camp experience, working day and night (including night watch), helping to set up & tear down camp. All meals are included for you and your horse. For this, you will receive a commemorative belt buckle! We will provide a place to leave your vehicle and trailer.

Let’s keep it as authentic as possible.  Here’s a list of what to expect and prepare for:

ATTIRE:

• Long-sleeve shirts.  No bright colors or Hawaiian shirts
• Slicker
• No tennis shoes in camp while public is visiting, chukkas are okay to relax feet
• Felt hat – NO ball caps
• NO sunglasses please, unless prescription
• NO cell phones in public

CAMP & SUPPLIES:

• Tent as authentic as possible, no bright colored tents. Tarp tents would be good.
• No motor homes or campers
• Bed roll
• Saddle bags and canteen, or keep water bottles in the saddle bag
• NO alcohol when riding; only in camp after visitors leave
• As few trailers as possible. If you have an extra horse, try to find pasture until needed.
• Horse supplies, extra leather straps, pocket knife (belt or boot), hoof pick, pliers, shod horses
• NO whips.  NO  roping cattle unless sick or lame
• NO stud horses.  Young colts in training not preferred
• Must have negative Coggins test on each horse per Oklahoma state law.
• Health papers on horses.  Health papers on cattle if individually owned
• Feed bag or feed pan if possible.  Hay bag would be good, wastes less hay
• Picket line will be used so make sure horse is broke to tie on picket line before the drive!
• Picket line night watch rotation will be mandatory!
• No hobbled horses at night, unless they are staked in place, they tend to get into picket line horses
• Do not litter
• No one under 18 years of age on the trail
• Ride sharp, don’t slack off

Day Riders will begin bright and early to follow the herd and crew up the Chisholm Trail. You won’t be able to ride with the cattle but will ride directly behind with great views and less work. No meals are included for you and your horse.  You will receive a commemorative Wild Rag! Please arrange for transportation back to your vehicle and trailer at the end of your stay.  We will provide a place to leave your vehicle and trailer.
